Argireline® Hexa-Peptide Serum
INCI: acetyl hexapeptide-8
Argireline® was developed and tested in the lab of Dr. Ing. Martin Rodbell. The biochemist was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1994 because he proved that cells communicate via messenger substances. Dr. Rodbell’s insight was that in order to move a muscle, the nerve messenger acetylcholine (ACh) is required. The more ACh is transported to the muscle, the more it contracts and the deeper the wrinkles become. Argireline®, also known by the chemical name acetyl hexapeptide, inhibits the release of these neurotransmitters. It has the ability to attenuate these nerve signals so much that the facial muscles are less active and can relax better. About 60% of ACh’s are blocked by Argireline®, which finally gives the skin the chance to completely straighten itself out.
Argireline® is a six amino acid chain that both reduces the level of existing wrinkles and has been proven to effectively counteract their formation. It is the only anti-wrinkle peptide with clinically proven efficacy, studies and laser measurements have shown that creams containing Argireline® can sustainably reduce wrinkle depth by up to 50%. It is applied externally, acts gently, does not need to be injected and does not cause any toxic reactions. Argireline® is therefore the non-toxic, safe and mild alternative to botulinum toxin A (Botox *), targeting the same wrinkling mechanism but in different ways.
Argireline® does not cause complete decommissioning of the muscles, but only a significant mitigation of the facial expressions. The face is not mask-like, but relaxed and naturally rejuvenated.
